Drilling & Completion

We are the leading on-site supervision and engineering design firm in the lower 48. The majority of large multinational oil and gas corporations as well as independent exploration and production firms rely on our consultants for all types of drilling and completion operations, including hydraulic fracturing and flowback. We help them reduce their fixed operating costs, manage their planned activity, and safely deliver their wells in an environmentally friendly way. 1,000 of the most highly skilled and experienced staff, subject matter experts and consultants in the industry make it possible.

Our services include:

WELL CONSTRUCTION ENGINEERING AND ON-SITE SUPERVISION

Drilling (onshore, offshore, deepwater, international, domestic, vertical, horizontal and directional drilling)
Our drilling and completion engineers provide engineering design and well planning from the most basic well design to the most complex the industry has to offer. Our on-site supervisors are highly competent professionals with well control certification, safety training, and other regulatory requirements. We are experts in current industry software for tubular design, hydraulics, cementing, and directional calculations. Our field supervisors can provide morning reports in multiple electronic formats such as Open Wells or Wellview. We also can provide rig clerks and HSE technicians for these operations.

Hydraulic Fracturing
Our engineers can design your frac job using a variety of industry standard fracturing models. Our on-site supervisors safely manage the pumping and logistical services as well as any necessary drill-outs and flowback.

Re-completion, Electric Line Data Acquisition, Workover, Coiled Tubing Entry, and Plug & Abandonment Work
We work with clients to prepare the necessary procedures and any regulatory filings necessary for these supplementary operations during the course of the well life. For some operators, we provide dedicated P & A on-site supervision and management.

PROJECT ENGINEERING, MANAGEMENT, AND PLANNING

Our engineers and office management personnel provide services to operators not staffed to handle their own engineering design, well permitting, material sourcing, drilling and completion. We also offer management of accounts payable for their well activities and operations. Our offices in Houston, Lafayette, Midland, and Oklahoma City are staffed to take on full project management roles for any clients that require them. Some—far from all—of the principal services we offer include:

  • Wellbore engineering design and construction programs 1,000 feet to 35,000 feet deep
  • Frac design and field execution
  • Completion, recompletion and workover design and procedures
  • Reservoir/petroleum engineering
  • Safety services—office and wellsite
  • Critical well plan peer review
  • Emergency response planning
  • Relief well design
  • Rig audits

PROFESSIONAL ENGINEERING CERTIFICATION

United States Bureau of Safety and Environmental Enforcement
Federal Waters contiguous to the United States

Third-party registered professional engineer review of well design (Schematic, tubular and cement basis of design, pore pressure/frac gradient profiles, BOPs and test procedures, maximum allowable test pressures for tubulars, drilling & directional procedures) and plans for execution. Certifications are provided for:

  • Tubular Design & necessary changes
  • Cement Design & necessary changes
  • Well Barrier Design-Type of Barrier and Testing of same

REAL WORLD TRAINING

As part of our orientation practice for consultants that work through us, we require face-to-face visits with our experienced operations superintendents to ascertain the skill level of each individual. Training is accomplished through a form of oral examination and/or written testing against real life experience modules pertinent to the area and work required by our clients.

We offer this training to our clients, by use of our modules, for improvement on field operations for new and experienced staff engineers and supervisors. We can tailor our modular approach to the needs of our clients and their respective operations and regulatory environment. The experienced team at Sierra Hamilton is uniquely qualified to offer both operational and well control improvements to you staff.
